Farmington Issues Approved by Voters

(Farmington, MO) Farmington residents will see greater fire and police protection in the future after voters approved a half cent sales tax increase in Tuesday's election. Farmington Fire Chief, Todd Mecey, says the funds are needed to acquire more personnel for his department.

The tax generated will also hire additional policemen and address police salaries. Farmington voters also approved the collection of an internet sales tax, known as the Wayfair Tax. The vote for the sales tax issue turned out with a little over 74% of the vote while the internet use tax vote ended up with nearly 53% voter approval.
