Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in Jefferson County has claimed the life of a Hillsboro woman and left another with moderate injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 3:05 a.m. on Old Missouri Route 21, north of Konert Road. A 2007 Ford Escape, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Hillsboro, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle traveled off the road, struck a raised curb, and collided with stationary construction machinery in the median.
The driver, who was not wearing a safety device, was transported to Mercy Hospital South by ambulance where she was pronounced deceased.
A 25-year-old female occupant from Irondale, who was wearing a safety device, sustained moderate injuries. She was also transported to Mercy Hospital South by ambulance for treatment.
