Firefighters Battle Large Commercial Blaze in Potosi

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - Firefighters from across the region responded to a commercial structure fire in Potosi on Tuesday evening.

The Potosi Fire Protection District was dispatched at approximately 6:50 p.m. by Washington County 911 to the 400 block of E. High St., where they arrived to find smoke billowing from the structure. Crews entered the building and discovered flames spreading throughout the interior. Multiple attack lines were deployed, and firefighters worked for over an hour to contain the fire, bringing it under control by approximately 8 p.m.

The incident prompted a massive mutual aid response, with multiple fire departments assisting in the effort.

Agencies responding to the scene included DeSoto, Leadwood, Irondale, Big River, Belgrade, Leadington, Park Hills, Bismarck, Festus, Mapaville, Terre Du Lac, Hillsboro, Caledonia, Washington County Ambulance District,  Richwoods and Farmington.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the fire. The incident remains under investigation.
