French Village Man Dies in Crash

(French Village, MO) A man from French Village, 26 year old Wyatt A. Vangundy is dead after he involved in a fatal traffic accident Thursday afternoon at 12:10 in St. Francois County. Highway Patrol reports show Vangundy was driving a van east on Y Highway, west of Critter Lane Road, when failed to negotiate a curve to the left and crossed over into the westbound lanes. 69 year old Margaret A. Lambay of Barnhart was driving a van west on Y. The two vehicles collided and Lambay's van ran off the north side of the road while Vangundy's ran off the south side of the highway. Vangundy was pronounced dead on the scene. Passengers in Lambay's van, including a 7 year old girl, a 13 year old boy, and 73 year old Abdul K. Lambay, all received minor injuries. Two additional people in the Lambay van were injured as well including a 14 year old male who was seriously injured and 47 year old Sameer M. Lambay who received moderate injuries. All the injured were taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson except the driver, Margaret Lambay, who was flown to Mercy Hospital at St. Louis. Everyone in the Lambay vehicle, except the 7 year old female juvenile, was wearing a safety device while Vangundy was not.
