Gamel Sentenced in Sexual Abuse Case

(Jefferson Co., MO) A Jefferson County man, 36 year old Matthew Gamel, is facing 40 years in prison after being sentenced Wednesday for sexual abuse of a minor.

Court records show Gamel admitted, in a guilty plea, he sexually abused the victim and recorded it on at least four occasions. The victim was under 14 years of age at the time.

In addition to the recordings he made, Gamel possessed more than 1,700 media files containing child sexual abuse material that he obtained online.

Gamel pled guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis in February to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of receipt of child pornography.

The Pevely Police Department and the FBI investigated the case.
