Iron County Shooting Death

(Bixby, MO) Formal Charges are pending against a suspect in the shooting death of 51 year old Donnie Barton Jr., of Boss, after he was shot in the stomach and found roadside in rural Bixby on County Road 79 in Iron County. A press release from Iron County officials indicates March 27th, at approximately 8 P.M., Iron County Sheriff's Deputies received a report of a male with a gunshot wound on County Road 79. The man was found on Neals Creek Road. Upon arrival, law enforcement found Barton roadside with an apparent gunshot wound.  Iron County EMS responded to the scene and victim was transported to an awaiting air ambulance for transport to a medical facility. The victim died at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Sullivan. An individual is in custody pending formal charges. The Iron County Sheriff’s Office and the Iron County Coroner’s Office would like to thank members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, Viburnum Police Department and Pilot Knob Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
