It's Tax Day

(Washington, DC.) Today's the day...our taxes are due! But if you've waited till the last minute there are still some ways to file your income tax forms before the clock runs out. The IRS says things have been running smooth this tax season.

That's Commissioner Danny Werfel.

He says about two thirds of Americans have already filed and used their new system. Given that it's the last minute you might be prone to some errors. The IRS says some of the most common ones are that names or tax ID numbers are messed up. Sometimes people choose more than one correct filing status. They might enter the correct dependent information, but they forget to check the box for the child tax credit or credit for other dependents. And of course, don't forget to sign and date the return. If you can't get them done by midnight tonight though, you can file an extension but be prepared to pay a penalty and interest.
