Jefferson County Pedestrian Fatality

(Jefferson Co., Mo) A Hillsboro man, 59 year old Norman E. Mcarthur, is dead after he was struck by a pick up Monday morning at 5:22 in Jefferson County.

Highway Patrol reports indicate Mcarthur was standing in the lanes of traffic on eastbound Highway 30, at Gravois Road as the pick up was being driven east by 45 year old Jeremiah S. Schmidt of Cedar Hill. He was following another vehicle and couldn't see Mcarthur in the road. The vehicle in front of Schmidt's pick up swerved to avoid Mcarthur and Schmidt couldn't stop in time before striking Mcarthur.

Schmidt wasn't injured while Mcarthur was pronounced dead on the scene.
