Madison County, Mo. (KFMO) - A Madison County woman is facing murder charges after authorities say she intentionally struck and killed a pedestrian with her SUV in Madison County.
44-year-old Regina Mederos was taken into custody on Monday, March 17. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the fatal crash occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, March 15, on County Road 275. The victim, a 38-year-old man from Fredericktown, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a probable cause statement, investigators determined that Mederos was driving 70 miles per hour and had all four tires off the road when she struck the pedestrian. Evidence at the scene led authorities to believe she intentionally veered off the road to hit the victim. Court documents further reveal that Mederos had taken several pictures and videos of the victim in a Walmart parking lot before the crash.
Mederos is currently being held at the Madison County Jail on a $500,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning, March 19.
