Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The Parkland and surrounding areas are under an enhanced risk for severe weather today, with strong thunderstorms expected across southeast and east-central Missouri, as well as southwest and south-central Illinois. The primary threats include damaging winds over 70 mph, very large hail up to baseball size, and a chance for weak EF-0 to EF-1 tornadoes.
Storm activity is expected to begin around noon and last through 7 p.m., with the most intense storms likely occurring in the afternoon. While the risk of strong tornadoes has decreased significantly, isolated tornadoes remain possible.
The severe weather threat will end from west to east as a cold front pushes through the region. However, if thunderstorms develop into a solid line, the storms could move eastward faster than the front, potentially ending the threat earlier.
Residents should stay weather-aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be prepared to take cover if severe weather strikes. Stay tuned to KFMO B104 News on-air and online for the latest updates.
