NWS Confirms 12 Tornadoes from Friday Night’s Storms

St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis has completed its survey of 12 tornadoes that touched down across Missouri during Friday night's severe weather outbreak.

The survey reveals a range of tornado intensities, from EF-1 to EF-3, with significant damage reported in multiple areas. In Elmont and Union, an EF-1 tornado was confirmed with maximum winds of 105 mph, a path length of 19.2 miles, and a width of 100 yards. A stronger EF-2 tornado affected Villa Ridge, Gray Summit, and Wildwood, producing winds up to 130 mph, traveling 13.6 miles, and reaching 130 yards in width.

Another EF-2 tornado struck Morse Mill, Arnold, and Mehlville, with winds of 116 mph, spanning 25.3 miles, and measuring 0.48 miles wide. The Fremont and Grady tornado was one of the most intense, rated as an EF-3 with maximum winds of 165 mph, a track length of 26.7 miles, and a width of 500 yards. A second EF-3 tornado moved through Clearwater Lake, Des Arc, and Saco, producing 155 mph winds, traveling 29.9 miles, and spanning 0.87 miles wide. The Perryville tornado was also categorized as an EF-3, with 135 mph winds, a path length of 25.1 miles, and a width of 500 yards.

Additionally, an EF-1 tornado struck Sikeston, according to the NWS in Paducah, Kentucky, with peak winds of 105 mph and a path length of 4.5 miles. The NWS continues to assess damage and urges residents in affected areas to remain cautious as recovery efforts continue.
