One Vehicle Accident Kills Festus Teen

(Jefferson County, MO) A teenager from Festus, 18 year old Egan E. Hammon, is dead after a one vehicle accident in Jefferson County Wednesday morning. Highway Patrol Reports indicate Hammon was driving an SUV south on Highway 61, at 12:24 am, when it crossed over the centerline. The vehicle began to slide and spin counterclockwise. It ran off the road, down an embankment, and became airborne. The SUV sailed over a driveway and crashed into a wooden fence post. The front end of the vehicle smashed into the ground and it rolled over throwing Hammon out. He was pronounced dead by ambulance personnel. Hammon was not wearing a seat belt when the wreck took place.
