Open Enrollment Topic as Legislature Convenes

(Jefferson City, MO) The proposal of open enrollment for Missouri Schools will be a major topic of discussion as legislators return to Jefferson City after their Spring Break. The State Representative of the 116th District, Dale Wright, says the house has approved the measure with certain compromises including protections to keep monies from the retirement pool for teachers leaving and going to charter schools and protections for athletes among others.

Wright adds the bill also allows no more than 3% of students come from open enrollment in a district and school districts would be allowed to opt out of the program if they choose to do so.
