Out of Town Bicylist Moderately Injured in Accident

(Ste. Genevieve Co., MO) A Wisconsin man is recovering from moderate injuries after being struck by a truck, while riding a bicycle Monday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says, Robert J. Welling, 60, was riding his bicycle southbound on Highway 61, north of Lime Kiln Road in Ste. Genevieve County, when he was struck by a truck, driven by Gabriel M. Willett, 18, of Bloomsdale. According to the report, Willett attempted to avoid Welling, by braking and steering to the right. The front of the truck struck the rear of the bicycle. Welling was taken to Mercy Hospital South by ambulance. Willett was not injured in the accident.
