Perryville Shooting Investigation

(Perryville, MO) Reports from the Perry County Sheriff's office indicate a Perryville man, 41 year old Mathew Donnely is dead and another man, 50 year old John Paul Morrison, is in custody after Perry County Sheriff's deputies were called to Morrison's residence on Sandler Drive, north of Perryville. Information from the Sheriff's office indicates deputies were dispatched to the home in the early afternoon hours of Sunday, May 1st, after Morrison said he had shot a man who came to his door and assaulted him. Donnely was found collapsed a short distance away from the residence. He died later at the hospital from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police discovered illegal firearms, methamphetamine, and diazepam pills during the initial investigation at Morrison's home. He is a previously convicted felon and was taken into custody. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, three counts of a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, two drug possession charges, and a drug paraphernalia charge. The investigation continues and more charges could come.
