Politte Free Man after Friday Release

(Jefferson City, MO) The man convicted of murdering his mother in 1998 when he was 14, Michael Politte, is free after being released Friday. Controversy surrounded his trial with jurors coming forth years later filing affidavits asking for another look into the case. New forensics evidence showed Politte did not have gasoline, the accelerant used to set the blaze, on his tennis shoes as original prosecutors had said. Politte's mother was found beaten and burned to death. A change in sentencing guidelines for juveniles caused Politte to be set free. He says he will continue to work to clear his name and has always maintained his innocence.
