Potosi R-3 Schools Address Safety Concern Following Bus Incident

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - On Tuesday morning, Potosi R-3 School District officials swiftly responded to a concerning statement made by a sixth-grade student on one of the district's school buses.

The student reportedly mentioned having a gun in their backpack while using an app that made gun noises. The district’s administrative team immediately intervened, searching both the student and their backpack. No weapons were found, and school officials confirmed that at no point were students or staff in any danger.

The district is urging parents to remind their children that statements about violence, even in jest, are taken very seriously. Such comments can cause fear, disrupt the learning environment, and will lead to serious consequences.
