Progress in the Parkland: City of Farmington Eyes Street Improvements Near Maple Valley Shopping Center

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - In this edition of Progress in the Parkland, we take a closer look at how the City of Farmington is responding to the growing traffic demands at the Maple Valley Shopping Center. As new businesses and increased foot traffic make the area busier, the city is evaluating options to improve access and ease congestion. Farmington City Administrator Greg Beavers says one of the primary focuses will be improving Valley Creek Drive, where work is most likely to begin.

In addition to Valley Creek Drive, Beavers noted that the city is working on plans for lane expansions along Maple Valley Drive and Market Street. These expansions aim to accommodate the increased flow of vehicles as more businesses open and customer traffic rises.

Beavers also addressed potential changes to access routes. He mentioned that while the city has had discussions with the Missouri Department of Transportation about creating an additional exit into the shopping center from Karsch Boulevard, it’s not a feasible option at this time due to logistical challenges. With multiple infrastructure projects in the works, the city hopes these improvements will help alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the overall experience for those shopping and dining in the area.
