Red Flag Warning Issued for Friday Due to High Winds and Low Humidity

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Friday, in effect from noon to 7 p.m., due to dangerous fire weather conditions.

Winds will be out of the southwest at 35 to 40 mph, with gusts reaching 45 mph. Relative humidity will be as low as 20%. These conditions significantly increase the risk of rapid wildfire spread. A Red Flag Warning indicates that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or expected soon. The combination of strong winds, low humidity, and dry fuels can lead to extreme fire behavior. Officials urge residents to avoid any outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarette butts, and remain vigilant for any signs of wildfire.
