Scattered Snow Showers Expected Across the Area Wednesday

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Scattered snow showers are anticipated for Wednesday across the Parkland. While widespread impacts are not expected, residents need to be prepared.

A cold front is expected to move through the area starting midday Wednesday, producing widespread flurries and isolated to scattered snow showers. These snow showers, much like spring and summer rain showers, will be highly localized.

Key Points:

Timing: Snow showers will likely occur from midday through the afternoon, with the heaviest bursts expected during the afternoon hours.

Accumulation: Most areas will experience zero to trace amounts of snow. However, localized bursts of heavy snow may lead to quick accumulations of up to half an inch, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. Pavement is expected to remain too warm for significant accumulation.

Impacts: The primary concerns include brief reductions in visibility and gusty winds during heavier snow bursts. Any accumulated snow is expected to melt by late afternoon.

Simulated weather models suggest that the showers will enter the region early Wednesday morning, moving through central Missouri and into the St. Louis Metro area by noon. The showers will quickly dissipate by mid-afternoon.
