St. Francois County Commissioners Approve Payment in Lawsuit Settlement

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - St. Francois County Commissioners approved the payment of $75,000 during a special meeting last Thursday, pursuant to a settlement reached with a former employee of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

In 2020, Lisa Davidson sued St. Francois County alleging sexual harrassment and human rights violations while working in the Prosecuting Attorney's Office under at-the-time county prosectuor Jarrod Mahurin. Davidson's lawsuit sought damages including "lost wages and benefits, reinstatement, front wages, gardenvariety emotional distress damages, compensatory damages, punitive damages, pre- and post- judgment interest, and attorney’s fees and costs." The case went to mediation, during which it was decided the county would owe Davidson $75,000.

At last Thursday's meeting, the commission approved the signing of two checks, one for $30,000 to come from the county's Wages - General Staff fund, and another for $45,000 to come from the the county's Unfunded Liabilities Expense fund.
