St. Francois County Homicide

(Farmington, MO) St. Francois County Sheriff's Department officials say the man who was allegedly shot and killed early this morning in the 2500 block of H Highway, near Farmington, is 43 year old Jackie Lynn Baldwin Jr. A press release from the department reveals just after 2 o'clock this (Thurs) morning Baldwin was shot and killed in his home. The shooting occurred following a domestic violence event that began several hours earlier Wednesday evening and continued throughout the night. Baldwin's 37 year old wife, whose name was not released, said she shot her husband after he retrieved a gun, in an alcohol fueled rage, stating he intended to kill her. Her belief that he intended to follow through with his threat was bolstered by the fact that he had told her multiple times throughout the evening that he was going to kill her, and his long history of domestic assaults of not only herself, but of former domestic partners, as well. Following the shooting, both Baldwin and his wife called 911 for medical assistance. Baldwin died while on the phone with 911 operators, just prior to EMS and Law Enforcements arrival at the scene. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. No charges have been filed at this time.
