St. Francois County Jail Improvements

(Farmington, MO) Renovations for additional kitchen space, and extra cold and dry food storage, could be coming to the St. Francois County Jail. St. Francois County Presiding Commissioner, Harold Gallaher, says they want to get the sheriff's department garage out of the jail's basement for safety and storage reasons.

Gallaher explains the work would also provide extra secure evidence storage space. The grant is a 50/50 matching grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety. The county's portion of the funding will come from the over $13 million in monies provided to the county by the American Rescue Plan Act. Approval for the grant process to begin was given at Tuesday's St. Francois County Commission meeting.
