St. Francois County Sheriff's Office Responds to Animal Neglect Call

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A 39-year-old man was taken into custody by the St. Francois County Sheriff's Office on Monday, April 14, 2025, following an investigation into possible animal neglect and abuse.

Last week, deputies with the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department received a complaint of animal neglect and abuse outside of Park Hills. On Monday, deputies served a search warrant with the Humane Society of St. Louis' Animal Abuse Taskforce.

Sheriff Jeff Crites told the County Commission they were able to rescue some animals, but not all of them.

The investigation is still ongoing pending an examination of the animals. Crites told the commission that he is withholding the name of the suspect until formal charges are filed.
