Student Safety Incident at Local School Prompts Urgent Message to Parents

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - A concerning incident at a local school has prompted school officials to send an urgent message to parents and guardians. According to a statement released by the Potosi High Schoo, a student made a comment about having a gun in his backpack Thursday afternoon. The statement came in the wake of a recent school shooting in Georgia, but the student later admitted it was only a joke.

The School Resource Officer (SRO) immediately intervened, and the student was taken into custody for further evaluation. After a thorough investigation, no weapons were found, and school officials confirmed that at no time were students or staff in any danger.
