Suspect Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting

(Imperial, MO) An investigation is underway, after a police-involved shooting Thursday morning in Jefferson County. The suspect has been identified as 45-year-old Terry Pfeffer, of Arnold.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak, at around 7 a.m., Anti Crime Task Force detectives, with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, attempted to stop a stolen truck, driven by Pfeffer, at Broadway and Schirmer in St. Louis.

Spike strips were deployed, however, the truck continued driving recklessly while evading officers on I-55. The pursuit ended in the 1100 block of Westward Trails, in Imperial, where Pfeffer exited the truck, and started firing at officers. The officers then returned fire, shooting and killing Pfeffer.

A woman who was in the truck with the suspect was taken into custody and she is cooperating with police.

Pfeffer reportedly had “known associates” in the area and was well-known to law enforcement. Marshak said no officers, nor bystanders, were injured during the shooting.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the police-involved shooting.
