Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak has identified the suspect in Sunday’s officer-involved shooting in Crystal City as 40-year-old Jarrett W. Cousins, of Bradford, Arkansas.
Cousins is charged with one count of Assault in the First Degree or Attempt – Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim and one count of Armed Criminal Action. He is being held without bond but remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
These charges are specific to the officer-involved shooting and do not pertain to the ongoing homicide investigation linked to the case. A team of four investigators from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office assisted Arkansas authorities in determining that the homicide occurred in northeast Arkansas. The Arkansas State Police is now leading the homicide investigation.
Sheriff Marshak expressed gratitude to law enforcement partners in Missouri and Arkansas for their cooperation, adding that many investigators worked tirelessly to advance the case to its current stage. He also extended his best wishes to the Arkansas State Police as they seek justice for the homicide victim and her family.
