Tornado Watch Issued for the Parkland Area

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of Missouri, including the Parkland region, until 4 p.m. Wednesday. A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop due to strong thunderstorms in the area. Residents should stay alert and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.

According to the National Weather Service, the watch includes St. Francois, Washington, Iron, Madison, Ste. Genevieve, and Jefferson Counties. Severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail are possible throughout the evening.

Authorities urge residents to monitor local weather updates and have multiple ways to receive alerts, including NOAA weather radios and mobile notifications. If a tornado warning is issued, seek shelter immediately in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
