Walmart Recalls Over 12,000 Cartons of Chicken Broth Due to Packaging Concerns

Bentonville, AR. (KFMO)​ - Walmart has issued a recall for more than 12,000 cartons of its Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth due to packaging issues that may compromise product sterility, potentially leading to spoilage.

Best-By Date: March 25, 2026
UPC Code: 007874206684
Affected Stores: 242 locations across nine states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.

The recall was initiated on December 11, 2024, and announced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on January 8, 2025. Walmart has proactively removed the affected products from its shelves and is collaborating with the supplier to investigate the issue.

Customers who purchased the recalled chicken broth are advised to:

Dispose: Immediately discard the product to prevent any health risks.
Refund: Contact their local Walmart store to request a full refund.
As of now, there have been no reported illnesses associated with this recall. However, consuming spoiled broth can lead to food poisoning. Signs of spoilage include unusual odors, discoloration, or the presence of mold. The FDA emphasizes the importance of proper storage: refrigerate opened broth for up to four days or freeze it for two to three months.
