Washington County Fatal Accident

(Washington County, MO) A man from Mineral Point, 28 year old Gene E. Skaggs, is dead after he was partially thrown from an all terrain vehicle at 2:20 am Sunday morning in Washington County. Reports from the Highway Patrol show the ATV was being driven west on the shoulder of Highway 8, at Stoney Point Road, by 25 year old Sikeston L. Bingham of Bonne Terre. Bingham made a left turn and attempted to drive the ATV up a rock wall. It rolled backwards and overturned killing Skaggs. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Skaggs and Bingham were not wearing any safety devices when the wreck took place. Bingham was not injured.
