(Washington County, MO) A man from Festus, 35 year old John M. Nowak, is recovering from moderate injuries after he was hurt in a two car accident that took place in Washington County Monday morning a few minutes after 11 o'clock. Highway Patrol reports show a car driven east on Highway 21, by 23 year old Steven R. McMahan of Desoto, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Highways 104 and 21. McMahan's car crashed into the driver's side of Nowak's car. Nowak, who was wearing his seat belt at the time of the wreck, was taken to Mercy Hospital South. McMahan received minor injuries. He was not wearing his seat belt during the wreck. MsMahan was taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital. Both cars were totaled in the wreck.
