(Farmington, MO) The Farmington Knights jumped to an early lead and hang on late to beat the Cape Central Tigers 72-62 Thursday night.
The Knights defense held Cape Central to a single point and no field goals in the opening quarter, while the offense attacked in transition to grab an 18-1 Farmington lead after the first eight minutes.
Cape Central cut the 17-point deficit to 11 at halftime after outscoring the Knights 23-17 in the second.
Farmington’s Cannon Roth led all scorers in the game with 27 points. Roth’s 17 second half points kept the Knights on top as they were outscored after halftime 38-37. Roth was 9-of-11 from the foul line as well.
Logan Schaupert contributed 20 points in the win, while Austin Knight had 11 points.
TySeanDre’ Edwards led the Tigers with 21 points, and Matayo Rivers collected 16 points but both fouled out in the final quarter.
Farmington (6-0) is off for a week in preparation for the Central Christmas Tournament that begins Thursday, December 26. The Knights are the top seed and will play 16-seed Crystal City at 4:00pm on KFMO.
