Central Lady Rebels defeat Steelville Lady Cardinals to open 38th annual Central Lady Rebels Christmas Tournament

(Park Hills, MO) The top seeded Central Lady Rebels defeated the last seed Steelville Lady Cardinals 61-32 to open 38th annual Central Lady Rebels Christmas Tournament and the 68th annual Bob Sechrest Jr. Central Christmas Tournament. The Lady Rebels were led by Alyssa O’Connor, who scored 15 points. Overall, the team shot 50% from the field and 70% from the free throw line.

The first half was an offensive showcase for the Lady Rebels, finishing the half ahead 50-9. The Lady Cardinals showed signs of life in the second half, outscoring Central 23-11, but the large scoring gap of the first proved to be too much for Steelville and they were unable to close it.

“If we play like that, I don’t see how we lose to anyone else in the tournament.” Lady Rebels first year head coach Aaron Tyree said.

O’Connor was joined on the scoresheet by starters Taylor O’Connor (13p), Khloe Dischbein (13p), and Courtney Dortch (6p). Additionally, Blair Sitton scored 10 coming off the bench and grabbed six rebounds.

The Lady Rebels will play the winner the Festus Tigers Thursday, Dec. 28 at 1pm and the Lady Cardinals will play the Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 10am.
