Farmington Knights Get First Conference Win of the Year, Beat Ste. Genevieve in 4 Sets on Senior Night

(Farmington, MO) The Farmington Knights take the final 3 sets in a 4 set battle with the Ste. Genevieve Dragons in a Large School Conference bought on Tuesday 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18.

The match featured 16 total ties and 7 lead changes. Farmington led the first set 15-11 before the Dragons rattled off 5 straight to take the advantage by a point, and after two ties at 16-16 and 17-17, the teams swapped 2-0 runs. Ste. Gen finished the first set by scoring 6 of the last 9 points.

The Knights used 5-0 runs in sets 2, 3, and 4 to get separation from the Dragons and held off late set rallies from Ste. Gen in each of the 3 to win in 4 sets.

Farmington improves to 14-11 and 1-1 in the conference with the win on Senior Night. Knights head coach, Haley Baker, says the win meant a lot to the 5 seniors on the team.

Ste. Genevieve falls to 4-11 and 0-2 in league play, their head coach, Carla Basler says there are positives to take away from the loss.

Ste. Genevieve is at North County on Thursday, while Farmington travels to Potosi and play the Lady Trojans in a massive regular season contest that could decide one of the top 4 spots in the MAAA Conference Tournament in October. Baker says Thursday’s game will be one of the biggest in the year so far.

Coverage on Thursday between the Knights and Lady Trojans on KFMOsportsPlus begins around 6:00 with pregame, expected opening serve time at 6:30p.
