Cadet, Mo. (KFMO) - The Kingston Cougars pulled off a second-half comeback to defeat the Fredericktown Blackcats Monday night, 58-56.
Kingston (3-2) started off slowly, falling behind by 9 at the half, 32-23. But the Cougars, who have outscored their opponents 102-53 in the 3rd quarter this season, made up that deficit to make it 43-42 heading into the final 8 minutes.
Fredericktown (2-3) recaptured some of their first half magic in the first 4 minutes of the 4th, taking a 56-47 lead, but that proved to be it scoring-wise for the visitors. Kingston embarked on an 11-0 run over the final 4 minutes, and although Fredericktown got the last chance to score, a 3-pointer by Blake Terry-Breakfield fell off the rim to give Kingston the win.
The Cougars were led by Blake Juliette, who had 17 points, and Brady Thompson, who finished with 16. Ayden Piel recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Fredericktown was led by Tucker Reuztel's 15, and Terry-Breakfield's 11.
Kingston next plays Saturday, where they face North County as part of the St. Francois County Rotary Shootout. Fredericktown travels to Perryville on Friday.
