Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - The Potosi Lady Trojans are moving on to the State quarterfinals after defeating Cape Notre Dame in 4 sets, 21-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-21.
Fresh off their first District championship since 1992, Potosi (24-9-1) came out trading blows with the Bulldogs (24-9-1), with Cape Notre Dame only pulling away late to take Set 1. After falling behind 6-3 in Set 2, the Trojans turned the tides in a big way, embarking on a 12-0 run and eventually taking the set 25-15.
That momentum carried over pretty much the rest of the way, with Potosi taking Set 3 by a score of 23-13 and fighting off the Bulldogs in Set 4 for a 25-21 clincher.
Ava Robart led all attackers with 33 kills and 4 aces, Eden Robart added 20 kills and 2 aces. The Bulldogs were led by Courtney Tatum, who had 11 kills and 5 blocks.
Potosi advances to the State quarterfinals, where they will travel to Notre Dame in St. Louis. The Rebels (16-15-1) knocked off Cardinal Ritter on Thursday.
