Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) – A pair of local volleyball coaches were recognized after their accomplishments throughout the previous season as Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches of the Year.
Ashley Matthews was named 2024 Class 3 Coach of the Year after she led the Potosi Lady Trojans to their first ever State Championship. Matthews coached the Lady Trojans to a 27-9-1 record in 2024 and has a career record of 48-19-4 in two seasons as head coach of the program.
Potosi captured its first volleyball district title since the 1992 season after a straight set win over Ste. Genevieve. Potosi only lost one set after the district title on the way to a Class 3 Title. They beat Cape Notre Dame, Notre Dame of St. Louis, Odessa and Logan-Rogersville. It was the first appearance in the Final Four for the Lady Trojans in program history.
Bismarck’s Chelsea Hennes was named 2024 Class 1 Coach of the Year after her Bismarck Lady Indians won the Class 1, District 6 Championship and reached the Quarterfinal Round. Bismarck’s 31 wins was the highest the program has reached since the 2003 season. The Lady Indians lost just six games in 2024.
Hennes has a career record of 68-48-10 over four seasons and has coached her team to 56 wins in the last two seasons.
