House Springs, Mo. (KFMO) - Authorities are urging visitors to Rockford Park, in House Springs, Mo., to use extreme caution when in or near the water, as another drowning took place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
According to the High Ridge Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched at 1:11 p.m. to a water rescue at Rockford Park. When the first unit arrived on the scene, they were informed that a 34-year-old man was last seen floating in the water before disappearing, and he did not resurface.
Rescuers immediately deployed multiple boats to search the river and shoreline to locate the missing person. High Ridge firefighters also began searching the water using specialized sonar equipment. The victim was located about two hours later, deceased in approximately 8 feet of water near an area of intense current.
This is the 8th water-related rescue at this location in 2024, and the 6th drowning since 2014.
