Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A 35-year-old Pevely man and a 39-year-old Ste. Genevieve woman were arrested for allegedly breaking into a home and trailer in the 1100 block of Vineland School Road, southwest of De Soto, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say a neighbor called police on Feb. 18 after spotting a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee on the victim’s property. When confronted, the man reportedly told the neighbor they had permission to be there.
Deputies later stopped the Jeep in the 12000 block of Hwy. 21, where they allegedly discovered stolen items in a trailer connected to the SUV. Investigators also responded to the home on Vineland School Road and confirmed the home and an enclosed trailer had been broken into.
The homeowner was called to the scene where deputies had stopped the suspects. According to the report, he stated he did not know the man and woman and identified the items in the trailer as his property.
Both suspects were taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where they were booked and later released pending the application for warrants.
