Valley Park Woman Drowns in Big River

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Valley Park woman died Sunday afternoon, after drowning in Big River.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened upstream from St. Francois State Park at around 2:15 p.m. on Sudnay, July 21. 40-year-old Melissa Hill reportedly entered the water to help another individual. Hill became unconscious and was found floating face down in the water. Bystanders pulled Hill from the river and began life-saving measures.

She died at the scene at around 3:15 p.m.
